Bushisms
Catching up on my Bushisms. To make things a little more obvious to the careless reader, I have added emphasis:
“See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.”
—Confronted by political opposition, Bush explains his strategy on promoting Social Security reform. (Washington Post, “The Ostrich Approach,” Dan Froomkin, May 25, 2005)“I repeat, personal accounts do not permanently fix the solution.”
—A glimmer of truth, however confused, from Bush on Social Security. (White House, “President’s Press Conference”, March 16, 2005)“With the campaign over, Americans are expecting a bipartisan effort and results. I’ll reach out to everyone who shares our goals.”
—In Bush’s first press conference after the election on Nov. 4, 2004.“We will stand up for terror. We will stand up for freedom.”
—Bush, speaking on the campaign trail, Oct. 18, 2004, in Marlton, N.J.“Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”
—Bush addressing a group of witnesses at the signing of the Defense Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2005 in Washington, DC on Aug. 4.
