Tequila and Salt Special
And now for a positive recharge…
You may not realize it, but it’s 100% true.
- There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
- At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
- The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
- A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don’t like you.
- Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
- You mean the world to someone.
- You are special and unique.
- Someone that you don’t even know exists loves you.
- When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
- When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.
- Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
And always remember….when life hands you Lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over!
Well, if 50% of it is true, that’s still pretty good. Thanks for sending, Barbara.
This reminds me of a song from Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. Something about being special and unique. It used to make me cry when I was little. Yes, here it is. You can listen to it too.
You’re Special – Fred Rogers
You are my friend
You are special
You are my friend
You’re special to me.
You are the only one like you.
Like you, my friend, I like you.In the daytime
In the nighttime
Any time that you feel’s the right time
For a friendship with me, you see
F-R-I-E-N-D special
You are my friend
You’re special to me.
There’s only one in this wonderful world
You are special.
Almost makes me want to watch the show. Maybe we should have an adult version of something like this. A nice man sings to us once a day, just to say we’re special and unique. Then he uses puppets to model how to navigate emotions and problems and conflicts while respecting and caring for yourself and others. I’d watch it.
Maybe we could get the key members of the Bush administration to watch it…
and that thought effectively concludes today’s positive moment.

I was fine with most of what you had there — well, maybe just a little sceptical — until the very end when you mentioned the Bush administration.
Was there something to be “not fine” with?
I actually do have a little detachment from sentimental things like that, but still – it was a good friend who sent it, and we all could use a little positive affirmation from time to time
… and it did make me think of that Mr. Rogers’ song
… and if that’s kind of funny in itself, it’s still true that the song made me cry when I was little
… and I actually would watch a show like that, and think it would be beneficial (even, and maybe especially, with puppets)
… and I actually think things might be different if someone had been saying things like that to the children who then became the grownups who now navigate the world in fear and paranoia instead of caring and love
… and actually – oh dear…
The last bit, you see, was meant to be a bit humorous. Cognitive dissonance? Grok? You dig? Get me?
I mean, just consider the sheer unlikelihood and ridiculousness of the idea that the key players of the Bush administration would do any such thing as to get the kind of soul guidance/therapy they seem to need. Ain’t gonna happen.
Then there is the dramatic irony: that the whole positivity thing comes crashing down simply by invoking the thought of this administration. Which it did. Unfortunately this happens to me a lot in recent times – it’s hard to keep a good mood going these days.
But I still thought the sudden collapse of the positivity was funny, in that odd way that’s hard to explain.
Or maybe your message actually means that you got the punchline? It’s such a vague kind of comment, I can’t tell.
Am I saying too much? Did I write that out loud?
(offstage) …you are the only one like you, like you, my friend – you’re special to me.
