You Have Been Warned
I witnessed a disturbing thing.
It was late morning near the Pier on Flagler Beach in Florida on Sunday the 19th.
It’s not uncommon to see small planes pulling banners across the sky, although it’s certainly not as common as at the typical “spring break” beaches such as Daytona. Perhaps this one came from there and just continued up the coast.
I didn’t notice anything special about the plane itself.
The banner was shorter than the typical ad banner. It was black. The message was in white:
You have been warned
OK, I see the obvious 666 reference. Is this a threat? A scare tactic? If so, who is behind it? Apocalyptic Evangelicals? Terrorists of some kind? Has there been any news coverage of this? If so, I couldn’t find it.
It was chilling.
Please comment if you know anything, or have heard anything, about this.
(Thanks for the comments – it was a tasteless publicity stunt for the new Omen movie)

I googled that date and found this:

We were at Daytona Beach on March 24 and while walking along the beach I looked up and saw the plane with the You Have Been Warned Banner. It flew up and down the beach twice. It was very disturbing. Was it terrorism veiled in religion? When I asked the people at the motel that we were staying at if they knew anything about it, they said they did not. I watched the news to see if anything was mentioned about it. It was not. I saw the same plane and banner again the following day at 2:10 in the afternoon. What is this all about??
i was curious as well when i saw the banner in Daytona. i searched around for a while and it looks like the News Journal finally did a story on it. i was kind of surprised.
not much of an advertisement, i say.

So it’s an ad for the new version of “The Omen.”
It would have been nice for them to have given some indication of this on the banner itself.
Thanks for the info, Jessica – much appreciated.
It’s been used on website banners as well now. I too got chills when I read it, because it did not act as a link, so I had no idea where it was coming from. I was just internet surfing when it came up on a webpage.
so this is an ad for what? a movie? the link in this blog didn’t work for me.
It’s an ad for Omen II. Which link didn’t work?
its the remake of The Omen, coming out 6/6/06 .. dont know how its going to be. with the exception of john carpenters The Thing, and scorcese’s Cape Fear, i’ve yet to see a remake that was better than the original.
i could see why theyve been keeping the ads so ambiguous by not putting the movie title on them, though. it makes them creepier and seems to be creating more of a buzz.
